On Monday, Sky News ran a story ‘more than 1000 doctors urge MPs to vote against the assisted dying bill’ , this was clearly part of a lobbying process, and indeed ITV news reported that this was based on emails circulated by Our Duty, Our Care (ODOC)- a lobby group set up specifically to block the RCP survey on Assisted Dying in 2019.
After the interview, I gave above, I had an email out of the blue from one of the authors who denied being a member of ODOC, denied ever speaking at an ODOC event. He continued to double-down, until I showed him the email of the event he had spoken at in April, organised by ODOC.
Hey ho, top tip doctors (and anyone else), don’t lie, its really unprofessional.
Doctors, like the public are divided, its MPs who vote, lets focus on informing them accurately
